Internal link audit based on the GSC Links report

The GSC Links report shows Top linked pages internally — exactly what Google sees. A page receiving 2 internal links will never be promoted, no matter how good the content is. I map the link architecture, find orphan pages, and build hub pages that push link equity to the right destinations. ₪680 one-time.

Why this works

Why an internal link audit works

The Links report in GSC splits in two halves. External lists incoming links from other sites. Internal lists links within your own site. The internal section ranks every page by the number of internal links Google identified pointing to it — your site, ordered by how connected each page actually is.

The audit starts by exporting that report to a sheet, sorting by link count, and surfacing two diagnostic patterns. Orphan pages getting 0-1 links. Important pages — categories, services, money pages — getting fewer links than minor blog posts. Both patterns mean link equity is flowing in the wrong direction.

The fix runs in two parts. Build a pillar/cluster structure with one pillar page per primary topic, supporting cluster pages underneath, and reciprocal links that turn the cluster into a hub. Then add internal links from your strongest pages (homepage, main category pages) to the deep pages that need promotion.

Pillar / Cluster mapping

Full export of the Internal links report, analysis of the existing site structure, identification of topics that deserve to become pillar pages with supporting clusters.

Orphan page detection

List of every page with 0-1 internal links, along with the cause (not in nav, not in sitemap, forgotten) and a specific fix per page.

Hub page recommendations

Plan for new hub pages that consolidate topics, build topical authority, and push link equity to deep pages systematically.

Actual link implementation

30-80 new internal links added to the content with precise anchor text per target — not just a PDF recommendation.

Process

How we work

  1. 1

    Export the Links report

Pull the full Top linked pages internally report from GSC, cross-reference with the Coverage URL list, build a matrix of page → incoming links.

  2. 2

    Find orphans + flow imbalances

Flag orphan pages (0-1 links) and important pages getting fewer links than minor pages. Check which pages are hogging link equity.

  3. 3

    Plan pillar/cluster structure

Define 3-5 pillar topics, map cluster pages to each, plan the new link diagram including new hub pages where needed.

  4. 4

    Implement + document

Add 30-80 new links directly in the content editor with precise anchor text per target. Documentation handed over with before/after per page touched.

Common questions

FAQ

How many internal links should a page have?

No magic number, but the rule of thumb: a main service or category page needs at least 15-30 incoming internal links. A regular blog post — 3-8. A page with fewer than 3 internal links is structurally weak; a page with 0-1 is an orphan that will almost certainly not be promoted.

What exactly is an "orphan page"?

A page that exists in the sitemap or is reachable via a direct URL, but no other page on the site links to it (or only one minor page does). Google reads that as a signal you do not consider the page important, so it will not either. In every audit I find on average 12-25 orphans nobody knew existed.

Does internal anchor text really matter?

Yes, more than most owners think. Internal anchor text is one of the stronger signals Google uses to understand what a page is about. A page where every incoming anchor reads "click here" gets far less topical relevance than a page where anchors vary but consistently point at the target keyword. Every internal link plan includes a per-target anchor text strategy.
