Coverage report cleanup — every URL classified and resolved
The Coverage report shows hundreds of URLs in Crawled - currently not indexed, Discovered - not indexed, and Excluded by noindex. Most site owners ignore it. I classify every URL and decide keep, redirect, or 410 — within 30-60 days the report is clean. ₪650 one-time + ₪180/month.
Why Coverage cleanup matters
- ✓ A high Excluded:Indexed ratio damages Google's trust in the site and slows new-page indexing for weeks
- ✓ Crawled - currently not indexed usually points to thin content — fixing it adds 15-40% organic traffic within 60 days
- ✓ Redirects and 410s for dead URLs clean up crawl budget and refocus Googlebot on pages that rank
- ✓ A validation request after fixing accelerates removal from the report from 90 passive days down to 14-30 active days
The Coverage report in GSC mirrors your indexing state. Hundreds of URLs sitting in Crawled - currently not indexed, Discovered - not indexed, Excluded by noindex, or Soft 404 is not background noise — it means Google has a view of your site you can no longer control.
Classification comes first. Every URL from every category gets pulled (BigQuery export when available) and grouped by pattern: empty tag pages, old archives, duplicate URL parameters, leftover test pages. Each group gets a decision: keep and fix if the value is real, 301 redirect to a counterpart that already exists, or 410 Gone if the content is genuinely dead.
Execution is where the project lives or dies. 410 in the server or plugin, redirects in .htaccess or Cloudflare, noindex toggled or stripped, canonical rewrites. Once execution is done, validation goes in through GSC and the report gets a 30-60 day follow-through until every URL is resolved.
Classify every error type
Every URL from Coverage pulled (BigQuery included), grouped by pattern and error type, with an action list per group.
Keep/redirect/410 decision per URL
For each URL I decide whether to keep and fix, 301-redirect to a relevant target, or permanently mark 410 Gone.
Actually implement the changes
Redirects, 410s in plugin or .htaccess, canonical updates, removal of incorrect noindex tags — done in production, not just documented.
Validation + re-crawl request
Validation requested per category, monitored for 30-60 days until the report is fully clean.
How we work
- 1
Pull and classify
Every URL from every Coverage category exported to a sheet and grouped by pattern and root cause.
- 2
Decision per URL
For each group I decide keep/301/410, then build a prioritized action list by business impact.
- 3
Production implementation
Redirects, 410s, canonical fixes, noindex removals applied on the site within 7-14 days.
- 4
Validation and follow-through
Validation requested per category, monthly tracking, status report until the report is clean within 30-60 days.
Coverage cleanup pricing
Full audit and classification + change implementation + monthly monitoring until the report is clean.

FAQ
Crawled-not-indexed vs Discovered-not-indexed?
Crawled - currently not indexed means Google crawled the page, read it, and decided not to index it — usually thin content, duplication, or low quality. Discovered - not indexed means Google knows the URL exists but has not crawled it yet — a crawl budget or prioritization issue. Each one needs a different fix.
How long until URLs disappear from the report?
After a validation request and proper fixes, most URLs leave the report within 14-30 days. Large reports with 1,000+ URLs take 60-90 days for a full update because Google crawls at a controlled pace. Without validation, the same process takes 90-180 passive days.
Should I request manual re-indexing?
For individual pages that were fixed — yes, Request Indexing in URL Inspection accelerates crawling to 3-7 days. For reports with hundreds of URLs — not practical, Google caps requests at 10-12 per day. In that case Validation request per category is the right path.
